Audiobooks have gained in popularity and shown growth in purchases in the last three years. With the pandemic and lockdowns, it looks like people’s interest in audiobooks has only increased. According to Technavio the audiobook market in Europe has the potential to grow by USD 1.23 billion during 2021–2025.

One month ago Spotify launched audiobooks and Nir Zicherman, Vice President and Global Head of Audiobooks and Gated Content at Spotify, announced that “Spotify users in the US can now search and purchase books across the catalog of over 300,000 titles”. With this in mind, I wanted to carry out personal research on audiobooks for those living in Europe in order to get familiar with the market and understand user behavior. I also want to see which audiobook apps are most preferred and whether users would prefer to listen on Spotify if they are to expand to the European Market.

If you are an audiobook listener, I invite you to participate in my research and help me to showcase results for audiobook users in Europe. This survey is anonymous and is aimed at personal research only. Please note that I do not work for any of the companies nor is this research for any of them.
